Welcome to IJIS
The IARC-JAXA Information System (IJIS) is a geoinformatics facility for satellite image analysis and computational modeling/visualization in support of international collaboration in arctic and global change research at the International Arctic Research Center (IARC) in corporation with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the Advanced Earth Science and Technology Organization of Japan (AESTO).
Research scientists from all over the world and the UAF science community together are involved in understanding the processes and impacts of changes in the Earth's environment from human and natural sources. Changes in the Pan Arctic region will affect human societies worldwide. It is time to access the current and projected changes with their consequent feedbacks, for international governmental planning and action.
IJIS comprises the latest in state-of-the-art computational hardware and software systems: LINUX and PC workstations in single or in 12/24 node SUN Clusters with Grid Engine. Searching and acquisition of satellite image data is available using geographic and orbital information through Online Archive System for IJIS (OASIS). Image analysis software includes ERDAS Imagine, ENVI and PCI Geomatica. Computational modeling/visualization software includes AVS/Express, IDL and Matlab.
